The words: shoot after the legs

In 1993, a demonstration was held in Copenhagen against the politicians who did not want to approve a referendum on the European Union from the previous year.
The demonstration developed very violently and a group of police officers had to draw their weapons.

Since the politicians would have investigated why firearms were used against the protesters, it was entirely up to the police leadership to investigate this. (In Denmark there is no internal police).
After a series of unreliable statements from the police leadership and because an audio recording appeared with the words: shoot after the legs.
The politicians set up an investigation into the episode. The investigation cleared the police leadership of any responsibility for a group of rank-and-file officers getting into so much trouble
that they had to draw firearms, and concluded that it was a protester who shouted at the 20-30 officers to shoot him in his legs.
The attorney general who was behind the investigation was subsequently rewarded with a promotion to judge at the Supreme Court.

The politicians in Denmark must have a good relationship with the police leadership

Today

The consequence of the politicians' blind trust in the police leadership in Denmark, can be seen in Odense:

The mass media in Denmark all want to have good relations with the politicians. As an example:

When the politicians sent an danish F16 fighter to Libya, to get Muammar Gaddafi's grandchildren killed,
there was only one newspaper that mentioned this. In the past, several newspapers would have been skeptical about this.

In 2025, Danish politicians made the population aware of the very dangerous Russian shadow fleet in the Baltic Sea.
The Danish media followed up and no one mentioned the truth like the little boy from Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale
